Centenary Forerunners Continue Fall Forum Series with Oct. 11 Program on Abortion

SHREVEPORT, LA — Two speakers will address the pro and con issues of abortion at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, when the Centenary Forerunners program continues its 2004 Fall Forum series, "America's Issues of the Heart."

The program, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Kilpatrick Auditorium, located in the Smith Building at the corner of Kings Highway and Woodlawn Street.

Pro-choice speaker Laurie Lyons will talk at 1 p.m. She is a civil rights attorney with a Shreveport law firm and is a graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and Southwestern at Memphis, now Rhodes College.

Pro-life speaker Steve Casey will talk at 2 p.m. He pastored Methodist churches in Mississippi and Louisiana for 20 years. Since 1990 he has provided services to persons with mental disabilities in five states as the director of spiritual care and church relations of Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries based in Bossier City.

Dr. Darrel Colson, provost and dean of the college, will be the moderator.

The Forerunners program is a lifetime learning program for those 50 years of age or older.
