Centenary Camerata, Chorale and Cantare Perform “Music of Many Cultures” Concert Tuesday, April 26

SHREVEPORT, LA—Under the direction of Dr. Julia Thorn, the Centenary Camerata, Chorale and Cantare will perform their spring concert, “Music of Many Cultures,” on Tuesday, April 26 at 8 p.m. in Anderson Auditorium.

Selections will be sung in various languages including Hebrew, Cuban, Creole, Spanish and Latvian. As the culmination of an entire semester’s work, these choral ensembles will showcase their best songs in this combined concert.

Camerata, primarily composed of voice majors, is dedicated to quality artistic performances of the choral repertoire from all historical periods, and its performances are lauded for technical excellence combined with genuine understanding of musical expression.

Chorale is the chamber choir selected from Camerata and Camerata alumni. Entrance is based on an extensive audition consisting of sight-reading, tonal memory and vocal development.

Cantare is an ensemble for treble voices and provides an opportunity for women across the Centenary campus to share their talents through choral literature composed exclusively for the timbre of the treble voice.

The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Hurley School of Music Office at 318-869-5235 or at music@centenary.edu.
