Two Win Wideman Piano Competition Dec. 4

SHREVEPORT -- Two outstanding pianists emerged from a worldwide field to win top honors at the Nena Plant Wideman Piano Competition held Dec. 2-4 on the campus of Centenary College of Louisiana.

They are Ji Yeon Shin of Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio and Tatiana Mitchko Tessman, a student at Park University in Parkville, Mo. Both both won the Gold Medal Siskron-Rice Award of $2,000 and will perform in May with the Shreveport Symphony.

Other awardees at the 55th annual event:

• Bronze Medal, the Dr. Jack E. and Carroll Bright Carlisle Award — Michael David Mizrahi
• Honorable Mention Lester Senter Wilson/Marcille Young Award — Marko Pavlovic
• The Raymond and Goldie Morris Award — Megan Glover
• The John Shenaut Award — Christine Bethanne Johnson
• Shreveport Symphony Performance Award — Chia-Lin Yang
