FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (2/05) Shreveport Symphony's Mark Wolfe to Present Tuba Recital, Master Class for Low Brass Feb. 13SHREVEPORT, LA — Mark Wolfe, principal tubist for the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, will present a recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, in Anderson Auditorium of the Hurley Music Building at Centenary College. Alicia Dubose will be the piano accompanist. The program will include Five Songs by Johannes Brahms, Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra by John Williams, Concerto for Two Violins by J.S. Bach, and Concertino for Tuba and String Orchestra by Jan Koetsier. Wolfe has been the principal tubist in the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra since 1996. He also performs regularly with the Dallas Symphony and accompanied them to Carnegie Hall in April 2005. He has taught at University of North Texas, Oklahoma City University, University of the Pacific, Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas at Arlington. Before the recital, Wolfe will be presenting a master class for low brass from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Anderson Auditorium. Topics discussed will be tone production, articulation and flexibility, among others. All tuba and euphonium students are welcome to attend. Both events are free and open to the public.
