Memorial Service Planned for Dr. Virginia Carlton on July 8

SHREVEPORT, LA — A memorial service for Dr. Virginia Carlton will be held at Centenary College’s Brown Memorial Chapel on July 8 at 11 a.m. Dr. Robert Ed Taylor will officiate and the Rev. Betsy Eaves, College Chaplain, will assist.

Dr. Carlton, a professor of mathematics at Centenary for 28 years, died June 14, 2005, at age 87 in Alexandria, La. She also taught mathematics at Northwestern State University for two years and at Wesleyan College, Macon, Ga., for 10 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Altrusa Club of Shreveport.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Dr. Carlton, donations may be made to the Dr. Virginia Carlton Endowed Mathematics Scholarship, Centenary College, 2911 Centenary Blvd., Shreveport, LA 71104.
