Adventurer-Centenary Alumnus Joby Ogwyn, Class of '97, Currently Climbing World's Tallest Unclimbed Peak

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College alumnus Joby Ogwyn, a 1997 graduate, is currently climbing Batura II in Pakistan, the tallest unclimbed peak in the world.

Ogwyn is recognized as one of the strongest high altitude climbers in the world and is one of America’s leading adventurers. In 1999, at age 24 he became the youngest American to summit Mt. Everest.

In 2000, he achieved the record of youngest person in the world to have climbed all "seven summits," the tallest peaks on each continent. In 2004 he set another world record by climbing Cho Oyu in only 8 hours.

Ogwyn is the founder of ACTIONPLAN expedition consultants, which promotes and make accessible adventure and mountaineering throughout the world. The company specializes in planning custom expeditions, guiding treks, and filming in remote regions. It caters both to individuals looking for adventure and organizations needing expertise with motion picture production or seeking to obtain unique footage from inaccessible and far away locations.

Ogwyn earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration at Centenary.
