SHREVEPORT, LA – Shreveport businessman Hoyt Bain will succeed Shreveport lawyer Steve Ramey of Shreveport as president of the Centenary College Shreveport-Bossier Alumni Chapter. Ramey, of the Class of 1979, concludes his yearlong term this month as the inaugural president of the newly organized local alumni chapter.

Bain, of the Centenary Class of 1963, has worked in commercial real estate development for over 30 years and is an associate broker/developer with Vintage Realty. He specializes in multi-tenant office building development and has developed or co-developed over 430,000 square feet of office space in Shreveport-Bossier. Active in the community and supportive of his alma mater, Bain has served on several committees and boards ranging from the Shreveport Board of Realtors to the Boy Scouts. A former member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve and current member at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, Bain has been married 37 years and has three grown children and six grandchildren.

“Hoyt Bain brings a new kind of energy and vision to the chapter,” said Carla E. Alsandor, director of alumni programs at Centenary. “He intends to keep the momentum going and to introduce new programs and activities for local alumni and those current students who want to live and work in the Shreveport-Bossier area after they graduate.”

Ramey, an attorney at Lemle & Kelleher, L.L.P., and a popular local musician, will remain an active member of the local executive committee, serving as immediate past president this year. Ramey will also continue his alumni involvement on a national scale, having accepted the position of vice president/president-elect for Centenary's National Alumni Association Leadership Board.

"Local alumni respond well to Steve Ramey's enthusiasm and easy-going leadership. He has done a great job of organizing an impressive group of volunteers. They're always coming up with great ways to get local alumni together for fun and camaraderie, and to support the College,” Alsandor said.

The Shreveport-Bossier Alumni Chapter provides opportunities for alumni to stay connected to their classmates and to their alma mater through regular social occasions and continuing education forums. Alumni also participate in activities that support Centenary in the areas of student recruitment, fundraising and career networking and mentoring.

In addition to Ramey and Bain, current members of the Shreveport-Bossier Executive Committee include Brittney Anderson '02, Libby Andress '83, Pat Booras '83, Alyson Briggs '00, Wayne Crank '78, Rebecca Eskew '03, Jeff Everson '01, Heather Peak '95, Christan Weidner '96/'04 and Cristal Willcox '03.

Any local residents who graduated from Centenary or who attended the College for at least one year automatically become members of the Alumni Association and are encouraged to get involved in the Shreveport-Bossier Alumni Chapter.
