Grubb Succeeds Reed as President of Centenary's National Alumni Board

SHREVEPORT, LA — Charles Grubb, who held the vice-president position last year, is now serving as the 2005-06 president for Centenary's National Alumni Association Leadership Board. Having fulfilled his one year term, Chatham Reed steps down from his position, now acting as immediate past president. As local lawyers, Reed and Grubb are active in the Shreveport-Bossier community and continue to make connections and contributions as leaders among Centenary alumni.

Charles C. Grubb
Charles Grubb graduated from Centenary in 1968 with a B.A. in Government and received his J.D. from Tulane University, School of Law in 1971. Since graduation, he has maintained a private practice of law in Shreveport. He served as City Attorney for Shreveport from 1978-1982 and 1986-1990. He currently serves as Parish Attorney for Caddo Parish, Louisiana. He maintains membership in the State Bars of Louisiana and Colorado. He served for 35 years in the U.S. Army Reserve and recently retired as a Command Sergeant Major. He is currently a member of the Shreveport Rotary Club. Grubb and his wife Maureen have three children: Jennifer, age 28; Julie, age 22; and Jason, age 17. Grubb and his family attend First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport where he currently serves as an elder.

Chatham H. Reed
“Chat” Reed graduated from Centenary in 1964 with a B.A. in English Literature, was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Strasbourg in France in 1964-65 and graduated from Duke University in 1967 with a master’s degree in Romance Languages. Following a brief career as a university professor of foreign languages, Reed went to law school, graduating in 1973 from the University of Texas. In 1973, Reed began his private law practice. He has been a partner in the local law firm, Simon, Fitzgerald, Cooke, Reed and Welch, since 1978. Married to Wendy Norton Reed who teaches high school Latin and French, Reed has two sons, Chatham, Jr., age 20, and James, age 19. Among other civic activities, Reed is a member and volunteer for The Nature Conservancy of Louisiana, has been selected as a member of the St. Jude/Alsac National Committee, was appointed to the State Civil Service Committee for a six year term and holds membership with Shreveport-Bossier Community Renewal. Reed and his family attend and support the Catholic and Methodists churches.
