Registration Deadline is June 1 for Centenary College Summer Exploration Camps for High School Students; Sessions to be Held June 13-17 & 20-24

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College is offering Summer Exploration Camps to high school students June 13-17 and 20-24. The camps provide students who have completed their freshman or sophomore year by May 2005 with enriched summer activities.

“Centenary Exploration Camp is an experience different than others,” says Professor Ross Smith, a second-year Summer Exploration Camp faculty member, “It provides an opportunity for high school students to do something academic at Centenary.”

Each session is one week long and students may take one course during each session. Classes meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with early drop off (7:30 a.m.) and late pickup (5:30 p.m.) available.

The cost per course is $250 an includes lunch and supplies. A $50 non-refundable registration fee applied to the cost of the course fee. The deadline to register is June 1.

Courses offered are as follows:

Session 1, June 13-17
· Architectural Model Making
· How to be a Film Critic
· Introduction to Photography
· Zoom and Boom: Build your own Computer Game
· Beginning Filmmaking
· Inside the Musician’s Mind

Session 2, June 20-24
· Advanced Photography
· Introduction to Shakespeare
· Shakespeare Through Performance and Acting
· Exploring the World of Biology
· Making the Most of Memory

Parents are invited to attend a “Meet the Professor” reception at the end of each weeklong session. The reception is held at 3 p.m. each Friday in the Sam Peters Admissions Building.
