SHREVEPORT, LA — Dr. Todd Gabriel, assistant professor of music at Centenary College, will give a lecture-presentation at the First National Conference on American Composers June 16 in New Orleans, La.

Hosted by the Tulane University Music Department and the Summer Lyric Theater, this year’s conference will be devoted to Leonard Bernstein. Dr. Gabriel will present his paper, “Leonard Bernstein’s Concerto for Orchestra (1986-89): An analytical overview of the composer’s final orchestral work, with an emphasis on symbolism and spiritual connotations in the formal structure.”

The lecture will be repeated at the Birmingham-Southern College campus in August for the Associated Colleges of the South Music Technology Workshop and New Music Festival.
