Producers of Television Movie Remake, "The Initiation of Sarah" to Film on Centenary College Campus

SHREVEPORT, LA — The Centenary College campus and other locations in the Shreveport area will be the scene for the filming of "The Initiation of Sarah" during May. The film is ABC Family Channel's remake of the 1978 made-for-televison horror movie.

Producers will start their local filming at Centenary May 1 and will be on the campus several days during May. Several Centenary students and staff members will join a cast of extras, who will populate the movie's campus scenes, and some students will work in internship positions. Several Centenary alumni are also working with the movie.

The remake will star Jennifer Tilly, Morgan Fairchild, Mika Boorem and Summer Glau.

Reuters/Hollywood Reporter states that the story "centers on a sorority girl ("Sleepover's" Boorem) with mysterious powers who unwittingly becomes the focus of a century-old battle between good and evil. Glau ("Serenity") will play Sarah's naive and put-upon twin sister, Lindsey."

The roles were originally played by Kay Lenz and Morgan Brittany, who was actually the half-sister. Fairchild, who played a snooty sorority sister in the 1978 film, will play the girls' mother. Tilly will portray Sarah's mentor and the school's resident enchantress, Dr. Hunter, a role originally played by Shelley Winters.

The movie will air during ABC Family's eighth annual "13 Nights of Halloween," a Halloween-themed programming event airing each night from Oct. 19-31."

Also joining the cast are Joanna Garcia (WB Network's "Reba") and Tessa Thompson (UPN's "Veronica Mars").

Hollywood Reporter quotes ABC Family president Paul Lee as saying, "It's suspenseful, scary and frequently wickedly funny, and we've got just the cast of leading ladies to pull it off."
