Monday, Aug. 14 is Final Assisted Book Donation Day for September's 20th Anniversary Centenary Book Bazaar

SHREVEPORT, LA — The Centenary College Book Bazaar will hold its final assisted-donation day on Monday, Aug. 14, at the bazaar’s Book House at 108 East Kings Highway, across the street from George's Grill. Volunteers will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day to unload books.

The annual Centenary Book Bazaar, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, will be helf Sept. 8 and 9 in the Centenary Gold Dome. It is sponsored by the Centenary Muses with corporate sponsorship by Hummer and Son Honey. The book sale draws some 30,000 attendees over two days, with hours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Donors who wish to donate books at other times can take advantage of the large protected book bins in front of the Book House. Volunteers unload the bins at least twice a week and more often at peak times.

The Muses accept books, CDs, DVDs and videotapes in good condition. Condition is important to the resale value of a book. Not requested are textbooks over five years old (other than literature and history), Reader’s Digest Condensed Books and National Geographic magazines.

Funds from the bazaar go toward student projects and activities that are not covered by the college budget, including student travel through the Carolyn Flournoy International Travel Fund. For more information on the Book Bazaar or to donate books, call the Book House at 318-219-3409 or Muses liaison Amy Giglio at 318-869-5136.
