Centenary's Hurley Orchestra performs under the direction of Dr. Todd Gabriel.

SHREVEPORT, LA — The Hurley Orchestra of Centenary College, under the direction of Dr. Todd Gabriel, will present the student winners of this year’s Hurley Concerto/Aria Competition at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in Anderson Auditorium of the Hurley Music Building. The concert will be free and open to the public.

The evening will begin with Edvard Grieg’s popular Holberg Suite, performed by the Hurley Strings. The feature presentation will consist of David Pennywell performing the first movement of Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto. Violinist Robert Schaumburg will display his virtuosity in Sarasate’s Gypsy Airs, Jeremy DeLaCerda will offer the frolicsome Finale of the Hummel Trumpet Concerto, and, for a definitive finish, Aaron Butler will beat out the Milhaud Percussion Concerto.

Gabriel is a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York City. He holds a master's of music degree from Louisiana State University and a doctorate of musical arts from the University of Arizona.

Anderson Auditorium is located in the Hurley Music Building on Woodlawn Avenue on the east side of the Centenary campus. Wheelchair accessible parking is available on the west side of the building.
