SHREVEPORT, LA— Centenary College celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day through song, dance and inspirational words. See full news release on the MLK convocation.

Centenary President Kenneth L. Schwab shakes hands with the Rev. Timothy Jones, a 1992 Centenary graduate who is the senior pastor at Peaceful Rest Baptist Church in Shreveport. Rev. Jones led the opening and closing prayers for the convocation.

Jonathan Ferrell, Class of '05, sang "Lift Every Voice and Sing," a song often referred to as the black national anthem.

Senior Darrius Hills of Alexandria, La., shared his reflections on Dr. King and the relevance of his message even in today's society.

The Unity Liturgical Dancers performed to the gospel song, "Stand."

Senior Chris Lavan of Lake Charles, La., introduces guest speaker Shawn Wilson.

Keynote speaker Shawn Wilson, who is a New Orleans native and leader in state government, delivered an address titled, "Awaken from the Nightmare, and Live the Dream."

President Schwab gives closing remarks and thanks the program participants.
