Centenary College of Louisiana RECENT NEWS AND EVENTSOFFICE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFERS NEW ONLINE TOOLS with its launch of www.centenary.edu/pr. Users can now submit project request forms, learn about publication guidelines and soon have access to download versions of the Centenary logo. WOMEN'S ENDOWMENT QUORUM ALLOCATES MORE THAN $71,000 FOR CAMPUS PROJECTS, including funds for pew Bibles in Brown Chapel, memorial benches in Cline Hall Courtyard, electronic teaching aids for the Health and Exercise Science Department, recycling endeavors, and painting, landscaping and furnishing projects in several campus facilities. ALUMNI SUPPORT ON THE RISE AS FISCAL YEAR DRAWS TO CLOSE. Centenary's total alumni giving is up 3% from last month. Raising the percentage of alumni who give helps Centenary receive valuable grants from foundations and companies. The Class of 2006 is close to reaching its goal of 100% giving. GET FIT THIS SUMMER through free aerobic classes offered by the Centenary Fitness Center for all faculty, staff and students (see schedule below). For its summer hours, the Fitness Center is open 6–8 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 12–8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12–6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The pool is open 6–8 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 4–6 p.m. Monday–Saturday.

MORE CENTENARY NEWS MONEY MATTERS to Professor of Economics and Director of the Economic Education Center Harold Christensen, who will present at the Economic Summit 2006, a Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas conference for high school faculty June 1–2. COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS AND CHAIR ROTATIONS were announced at April's faculty meeting. Having served as Centenary Chair of Liberal Arts for six years, Professor of English Steve Shelburne will be stepping down, and Assistant Professor of Sociology Michelle Wolkomir will fill that vacancy. Associate Professor of Religious Studies Susan Brayford, back from her yearlong sabbatical, will serve as associate dean for the next three years. KUDOS ARE IN ORDER for recipients of Board of Regents grants. Out of 12 grant requests, Centenary faculty received eight grants for various projects. They are:
RESEARCH PUBLISHED IN LEADING GEOLOGY JOURNAL has earned recognition for Chair of the Geology Department Scott Vetter. He co-authored the article "Layered mafic sill complex beneath the eastern Snake River Plain: Evidence from cyclic geochemical variations in basalts," which appeared in the May 2006 issue of Geology. ATTENDEES AT HARVARD UNIVERSITY'S WIKIMANIA CONFERENCE will hear from Web Developer Michael Futreal as he shares his original wiki programming language Aug. 4–6.
