Centenary's Camerata Singers to Offer Sampling of Sacred Music over the Centuries at Concert March 26

Camerata will present a program of sacred music for their March 26 concert.

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary's Camerata, under the direction of Dr. Julia Thorn and accompaniment by Cathy DeRousse, will present their first concert of the spring semester Sunday, March 26 at 8 p.m. in Anderson Auditorium of the Hurley Music Building. The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert program will offer a sampling of sacred music through the ages, featuring Mozart's Missa Brevis in C with strings, piano and choir. Soloists are Lori Lusted of Baton Rouge, La.; Karen Massey of Pittsburg, Texas; Carrie Collins of Pine Bluff, Ark; Shelly Walker of West Monroe, La.; Shannon Gallier and Billie Harland of Vidor, Texas; and Scott Brown of Shreveport, La.

A set of hymn arrangements including Amazing Grace, Fairest Lord Jesus and Precious Lord will round out the program, along with the rousing gospel song Worthy to be Praised with soloists Nolan Budgewater of Baton Rouge, La. and Missy Wise of Minden, La.

Camerata, a choral group primarily composed of voice majors, is dedicated to quality artistic performances of the choral repertoire from all historical periods, and its performances are lauded for technical excellence combined with genuine understanding of musical expression.
