Centenary to Host Louisiana Film Festival for K–12 Students March 31 & April 1; Award-winning Filmmaker to Lead Workshop

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College will host the Louisiana Film Festival: Student Division on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1.

Free festival registration will be held in Kilpatrick Auditorium in the Smith Building Friday from 3–4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30–10 a.m. The festival will feature 33 screenings of K–12 student films, as well as a film screening and discussion with award-winning filmmaker and television producer Sasha Wolf.

Having studied filmmaking at New York University, Wolf has worked as a freelance writer/producer for companies such as Design TV, Rainbow Media, MTV, and Jumbolaya Productions. She wrote and directed 35mm, black-and-white dramatic short film Joe, which screened as one of 10 films in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. It was nominated for the Court Mitrage Palm D’or in 1997. Since then, Joe has screened theatrically and in film festivals around the world, receiving the Best Short Film Award at the Long Island Film Festival.

Wolf will show her film Joe and present a workshop on "How to Tell a Story Visually," followed by a casual chat about what it is like to work in the film and television industries.

The Louisiana Film Festival is sponsored by Centenary College of Louisiana, the Louisiana Film Center, Louisiana Public Broadcasting, the Shreveport Regional Arts Council and the Louisiana Division of the Arts.
