Sorority Life Becomes Deadly in the ABC Family Movie The Initiation of Sarah Premiering Sunday, Oct. 22

Part Of 13 Nights Of Halloween Programming Event
The Film Stars Jennifer Tilly and Morgan Fairchild

Starring in the remake of the 1978 cult classic The Initiation of Sarah were Summer Glau, Mika Boorem, Morgan Fairchild and Jennifer Tilly. The film is set to air on the ABC Family Channel Oct. 22.

Burbank, CA (Sept. 11, 2006)—Dark magic, secret handshakes, ritual robes and membership for life—sororities will never be the same in the new ABC Family movie THE INITIATION OF SARAH, premiering Sunday, Oct. 22 (7–9 PM CT).

As part of ABC Family’s “13 Nights of Halloween” programming event, THE INITIATION OF SARAH tells the story of Sarah, a young sorority girl with mysterious powers, who unwittingly becomes the focus of a centuries-old battle between good and evil. It stars Mika Boorem (“Sleepover”), Summer Glau (“Serenity”), JoAnna Garcia (“Reba”), Tessa Thompson (“Veronica Mars”) and Ben Ziff (“NCIS”) with Morgan Fairchild (“FalconCrest”), who appeared in the original THE INITIATION OF SARAH, and .Jennifer Tilly (“The Haunted Mansion”).

This new version of the classic MGM thriller, THE INITIATION OF SARAH takes a look into the mystical and deadly side of sororities at Temple Hill University. Sisters Sarah (Boorem) and Lindsey (Glau) are thrown into sorority rush just like every incoming college freshman coed, but the stakes are higher for the girls when two houses—each with their own cryptic motive, begin vying for the souls of the twins—Alpha Nu Gamma, the premiere sorority on campus with only the prettiest and most popular girls, and Pi Epsilon Delta, an exclusive sorority that has been deemed the outcasts on campus. The only thing the sororities have in common: They both want the girls. Desperately.

Born with mysterious powers, Sarah is more wary of the pledging process, but naïve Lindsey sees this as her opportunity to finally be part of the "in" crowd and easily becomes enamored of the Alpha Nu Gamma girls and their president Chorine (Garcia). Chorine and fellow Alpha sister Ezme (Thompson) see Lindsey as the key to getting Sarah to join their sisterhood. But they must also deal with Pi Epsilon Delta adviser and the school’s resident enchantress Dr. Hunter (Tilly), who has taken Sarah under her wing and become somewhat of a mentor to her.

And if there’s one thing Dr. Hunter hates, it’s Alpha Nu. As she sees the sinister side of both houses, Sarah chooses to get out of the sorority life, but it won’t let go of her that easily. With the use of dark powers and a very long knife, how far will Alpha Nu Gamma and Pi Epsilon Delta go to win over Sarah? A co-production with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, THE INITIATION OF SARAH was directed by Stuart Gillard (“Charmed”) and executive produced by Craig Roessler, Hudson Hickman, Sara Berrisford and Chuck Fries, along with supervising producer Karen Spiegel and producer Lampton Enochs. The teleplay was by co-producer Dan Berendsen with story by Tom Holland and Carol Saraceno.
