Campaign Against Racial Profiling Official to Screen ACLU Documentary Born Suspect March 6 at Centenary College

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College Pre-Law Society members have planned an event that emphasizes the fact that being treated like a criminal based solely on one's race, ethnicity, national origin or religion is humiliating and scary. They note that it also violates the law.

The national director for the American Civil Liberties Union Campaign Against Racial Profiling, King Downing, will visit Centenary's campus and screen the ACLU Racial Profiling documentary Born Suspect. The program will be held Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. in the Kilpatrick Auditorium in the Smith Building, corner of Kings Highway and Woodlawn Street.

A panel discussion will follow, featuring Downing; Ali Hilsher, Centenary Pre-Law Society president; and Henry Walker, ACLU Northwest Chapter board member and civil rights attorney. Moderator will be Dr. Rodney Grunes, chair of Centenary's Department of History and Political Science.

The program is free and open to all interested students, faculty, staff and community members. It is sponsored by the Pre-Law Society, the ACLU Foundation of Louisiana and the ACLU of Louisiana Northwest Chapter.
