Centenary College Presents Kollege Kapers Music Variety Show April 13 & 14; Event is Free and Open to the Public

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College's Hurley School of Music will host its annual Kollege Kapers music variety show at 8 p.m. Friday, April 13 and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse.

The show is coordinated by Dr. Doug Rust, assistant professor of music, and features an assorted group of performances by the Centenary community. In addition to student musicians, this year's performers include Chemistry Professor Dr. Tom Ticich playing accordion, Centenary's Escaped Images dancers and members of Centenary's Juggling Club. The Centenary Jazz Band, led by Dr. Rust, will be featured.

Dance Professor Ginger Folmer's dance studio will also choreograph and perform. Music Dean Gale Odom's Opera Workshop singers will also perform. Student singers to be featured are Amanda Geneux, Heather Nicolls, Travonte Thomas, Lily Thompson, Shelly Walker and Allyson Wilson.

The show has a jazz theme and is known for its lively audience participation. The variety show holds a long tradition at Centenary College that has enjoyed restoration in recent years. The original Kollege Kapers toured throughout North Louisiana and East Texas during the 1930s and 1940s.

Admission is free and open to the public.
