Two Officers from Centenary College to Participate in Course Designed to Address Campus Active Shooter Incidents

SHREVEPORT, LA — Two officers from Centenary College's Department of Public Safety will be in Baton Rouge Tuesday (May 22) to participate in a "Train the Trainer" class on "Active Shooter Incidents." They are Zeke Aull, director of public safety, and DPS Officer Eddy Walker.

The class will be held at the Louisiana State University Police Department on the Baton Rouge campus. It is in response to Gov. Kathleen Blanco's charge to the Louisiana State Police and LSU to develop a curriculum that would enable college, university and municipal agencies to know how each other would respond to situations like the recent shooting incident at Virginia Tech.

The training will include about four hours of in-class training and about six hours of hands-on situational training. Aull and Walker have been asked to train the Centenary department and others in the area after they complete the class.

The 30 participants in the class — the first to receive this training — will be State Police, officers from colleges and universities, and officers of municipal departments that have colleges and universities in their jurisdictions.
