Centenary's BIG Event is Coming!

SHREVEPORT, La. — It is time to sign up as a volunteer for The BIG Event!

The BIG Event

In 2008, Centenary College of Louisiana celebrates our 100th year in Shreveport and Bossier City! As part of the celebration, we want to give back to the community that has embraced and welcomed us as part of the community. As a thank you to our community members, we have planned a community service project that will help our neighbors in the Highland Historic District.

On Saturday, March 29 students, faculty, staff, and alumni will be helping out in the Highland area. We've asked our neighbors who live near the College to tell us about household jobs with which they need help — things like repainting shutters, raking, preparing for new paint, cleaning sidewalks, etc. Already we have received more than 30 job requests—which means we need at least 300 volunteers to help out! Then we will canvass the neighborhoods in teams and complete these jobs.

We need your help...so, please sign up today!

To kick-off the day, each volunteer will receive a T-shirt, bottle of water, and snack. We will have a short pep rally in the quad before we break for tool distribution and work. Then, upon completion of the jobs, we will be hosting a neighborhood-wide celebration with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and soda.

This is a great way to give back to the community that we have called home for the past century. You may sign up with a team or as an individual.

There are two options on how to sign up:

1. Simply go to https://safe.centenary.edu/bigevent

-OR-

2. There will be students in the CAF all week with whom you may sign up on a paper form. All forms are due by Wednesday, March 12 to the Student Desk in the SUB.

Come out and help us help others! We look forward to seeing everyone for The BIG Event!
