Bands Battle for Top Spot

"The Peekers" Emerge as Winner

SHREVEPORT, La.—Early morning showers and threat of afternoon rain could not dampen the spirits of the crowd on hand to witness the 5th Annual "Battle of the Bands" March 29 at the Hargrove Amphitheatre when local bands took to the stage to battle it out for the top spot. The Peekers won the coveted first place award, followed by The Situation in second, and Missoni Lanza placing third.

Sponsored by KSCL 91.3 FM, Centenary's student-run radio station, bands from various genres competed for the top three spots, receiving $300 for first place; $150 for second; and $50 for third place.

Eight bands of various musical backgrounds performed during the four-hour show. Performers could be groups or solo acts and were selected after sending in demos to the station. Bands battling it out this year for the top three spots included: 6 Pack Deep; The Dark Pop Project; And Wellington; The Situation; The Peekers; Chris James; Missoni Lanza; and Midwest Caravan.
