Centenary College Hosts Camps, Meetings, Activities Throughout Summer Months

SHREVEPORT, La.—The students may be gone for summer break, but the Centenary College campus will the center of activity during the summer months when people from across the state, Texas, Mississippi and beyond make their way here for various camps, meetings and previewing campus life.

The following is a list of activities, camps, and meetings taking place during the summer of 2008:

Jambalaya Jubilee

June 13 — 15

Jambalaya Jubilee is an annual weekend retreat for children with arthritis and rheumatic disorders and their families. Centenary College has hosted the retreat since 1990, attracting families from Louisiana and surrounding states, as well as participants eager to work with the families. This year, nationally-recognized expert Dr. James Cassidy, author of the textbook "Pediatric Rheumatology" and a pioneer in the study of pediatric rheumatology, will be a special guest. Opening Ceremonies will take place in the Brown Chapel on Friday at 1:00 p.m.

Biz Camp

June 16 - 27

New to Centenary, Biz Camp is a two- week business camp. It provides inner city middle and high school students the opportunity to begin learning how to become business leaders and employers. They will complete the training portion of their program and immediately open their Market Place. The Market Place will allow them to practice the skills that they have learned during camp as well as market their goods and services.

A press conference kicks off the camp and takes place in Kilpatrick Auditorium on Friday, June 13 beginning 10:00 a.m. with the founder and CEO, State Representative Roy Burrell.

American Dance & Drill Camp

A dance and drill camp for high school students from all across Louisiana. Camp begins with Registration in James Lobby on Wednesday, June 18

Springboard

June 17 & 18, 20 & 21, 24 & 25, 27 & 28

Incoming freshman will have the opportunity to visit the campus for a preview of campus life, advising, testing and other activities.
