Centenary School of Music Presents Memorial Concert Sept. 6

SHREVEPORT, La.— Students and faculty of Centenary College will perform a concert in memory of Dr. Ronald Bukoff, Saturday, Sept. 6 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Anderson Auditorium of the Hurley School of Music. The concert is free and open to the public.

Dr. Bukoff, Director of the Hurley School of Music Library, and a member of the Centenary faculty since 1996, passed away earlier this summer.

A much-beloved member of the Centenary faculty, Dr. Bukoff was an erudite musicologist with a wicked sense of humor who had frequently expressed his preference for cheerful music at memorial services. To respect Dr. Bukoff's wish, this concert in his honor will be entirely light-hearted music.

Selections for the concert will include Three Sea Shanties for bassoon and bass-baritone, one of Dr. Bukoff's own compositions, featuring bass-baritone Horace English and bassoonist Doug Bakenhus; Jamaican Rumba with pianists Gay Grosz and Cathy DeRousse; Polly Wolly Doodle sung by the Centenary Chorale, conducted by Julia Thorn; The Prayer of the Cat sung by the Centenary College Choir, conducted by David Hobson; and Csardas by accordionist Tom Ticich.
