U.S. News and World Report Lists Centenary as One of "America's Best"
SHREVEPORT, La.— U.S. News & World Report has listed Centenary College of Louisiana among "America's Best Colleges" in its annual rankings announced today.
U.S. News & World Report collected data from more than 1,400 colleges and universities across the country for this year's rankings. Centenary is ranked at No. 149 among the top 265 Liberal Arts Colleges in the country. This year's ranking marks the 18th consecutive year that Centenary has been included among "America's Best Colleges."
For the seventh consecutive year, U.S. News spotlights schools with outstanding examples of academic programs that have been shown to enhance learning, including first-year experiences, learning communities, writing in the disciplines, senior capstone, study abroad, internships or cooperative education, opportunities for undergraduate research, and service learning.
To determine "Best College" rankings, the magazine's editors and researchers first place a school into a category based on its mission (research university or liberal arts college), then examine the colleges' academic reputation, faculty resources, retention rate, class size, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate, student-faculty ratio and percent of alumni giving.
