SHREVEPORT, La.—Emerging technologies, alternative energy sources, U.S. production capabilities, and supply and demand were all topics discussed Wednesday when Senator David Vitter held a public energy forum at Centenary College.

The purpose of the event was to discuss efforts to reduce gas and energy costs, and alternate energy sources. Senator Vitter, R-La., provided experts who presented information on why prices are rising and on domestic production capabilities and the alternatives.

Recognizing the fuel crisis currently enveloping the nation, Vitter was joined by Don Briggs with the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, who discussed supply and demand issues; and Dr. John Sutherlin, professor of political science at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, who discussed emerging technologies and alternative energy sources.

Following the presentations, a question and answer period followed.
