Centenary Welcomes New Dean of Student Life

SHREVEPORT, La.—Centenary College is pleased to announce that David L. Womack has been named the new Dean of Student Life and will serve as the chief student affairs officer for the College.

Womack comes to Centenary with more than 20 years of experience in higher education administration. Before assuming his current position, he was the Dean of Student Development at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill.

In his present position, Womack will oversee the departments of Career Services, Student Life programs and activities, Fitness Center operations, Residence Life, Health Services and College Counseling.

"It is a privilege to join the Centenary community," Womack said. "Centenary has a vibrant and beautiful campus, rich with tradition, and anchored by dedicated faculty, staff and students. I look forward to a very bright and exciting tenure at Centenary and the Shreveport community."

Womack also has 13 years of experience as a trainer and programmer in the areas of cultural diversity. He has served as a consultant on diversity training and volunteer programs at many colleges and universities. Womack has published several articles in the area of retention, freshman experience and diversity awareness. He has presented at numerous national conferences on various topics including "The Role of Student Personnel Administrators in Black Student Retention," "The Multi-Racial Student Experience" and "How to Start a Volunteer Service Program at Your Institution."

Womack is a graduate of Lock Haven University and earned a master's degree in Counseling/Student Personnel from Western Maryland College.
