Friends of the Alger Meadows Museum Gala takes Place

SHREVEPORT, La.—An annual fund raiser and gala benefitting The Friends of The Alger Meadows Museum takes place at Ernest's Orleans Restaurant Sunday, Oct. 12 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. The cost is $50 per person and includes buffet and cash bar.

The event includes a silent art auction that features nearly 40 works in a variety of media by artists from across Louisiana such as Luz-Maria Lopez and Clyde Connell. A representation of artworks by Louisiana artists will be offered for auction and include watercolors, acrylic paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and mixed media sculptures.

"It is important to celebrate our Louisiana artists and the art auction held annually by the Friends of the Algur Meadows Museum in conjunction with the Gala," said Diane Dufilho, Director of the Meadows Museum at Centenary College. During the gala and silent auction, the competitive bidding is done among fabulous food, great surroundings and engaging company."

The list of artists who have donated their works for auction include: Zama Dexter, Fletcher Thorne-Thomsen, Neil Johnson, Gwen Talbot-Hodges, Randy Hedgcock, Jasmine Morelock-Field, Jerry Wray, Nell Cahn, Laura Noland-Harter, Bruce Allen, Dorothy Allen, Ellen Soffer, Mary Virginia Hill, Graham Mears, Kathy Brodnax, Bill Bryant, Willard Cooper, Betty Freidenberg, Luz-Maria Lopez, Helen Feild, and Clyde Connell.

The gala takes place at Ernest's Orleans Restaurant, located at 1601 Market St. in Shreveport. Buffet items for the dinner include fruit and cheese, boiled shrimp, marinated crab claws, and mini muffulletas, cubed steak and mushrooms served with the old-Joe steak sauce, fried shrimp with remoulade sauce, fried catfish, and herbed chicken.

About Meadows Museum at Centenary College

The Meadows Museum of Art is located on the beautiful campus of Centenary College of LA at 2911 Centenary Boulevard in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Museum is open to the general public from noon until 4 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; from noon until 5 pm on Thursday; from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The Museum is closed on Monday. The Museum is free of charge to the general public.
