Inspired by Mayan ancestry and the memories of childhood stories told to her by her grandmother, Luz Maria Lopez paints from a colorful, mythological world. Lopez paints women with big feet and large toes to symbolize a woman's strength; stars to represent the nights of her youth; the heart to represent "love and sorrow, life and death, hope and resurrection". Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to walk through the museum looking at imagery and reading text created by this Louisiana-based artist.
