Centenary's Attaway Fellow Provides Insider's Look Into Alzheimer's

SHREVEPORT, La. — William Bridgwater, advocate for the Alzheimer's Association and member of the Early-Stage Advisory Group for the state and national Alzheimer's association, will speak at Convocation, Thursday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. in Mickle Hall, Room 114. The event is free and open to the public.

Bridgwater is also the keynote speaker at the Alzheimer's Association's Dementia Care Conference, Friday, Nov. 7 from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Kilpatrick Auditorium, located on the Centenary campus.

Now retired and living with his wife in Castle Pines, Colo., Bridgwater is 51-years old and was diagnosed with the onset of Early-Stage Alzheimer's disease when he was only 48-years old. Prior to his diagnosis, Bridgwater had a 26-year career in the information technology field, holding senior positions at multi-billion dollar corporations, such as AT&T, FORE Systems, Marconi Communications, Expanets and Juniper Technologies. His extensive global experiences include operations, finance, research and development, manufacturing, and marketing and sales.

Today he spends the majority of his time and financial resources speaking on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association and advocating on its behalf. He and his wife, Twyla have recently been identified by the U.S Food and Drug Administration to serve as patient and caregiver representatives to the FDA advisory committee dealing with Alzheimer's disease.
