Convocation Brings Sweethearts Back To Campus During Homecoming

SHREVEPORT, La.—This year Homecoming falls on Valentine's Day, and with the theme of I Heart Centenary, it was a perfect time to invite one pair of sweethearts back to the College to give the annual Founder's Day Convocation address.

Locke Bryan and Camille Young entered Centenary College as theatre majors in 1968 and had no idea that not only would they receive an education, but also a spouse.

"Homecoming and Valentine's Day may seem unrelated at first, but it reminds us that college is a place to learn, to grow and to discover oneself," said Dr. Ken Schwab, President of the College, when introducing the couple. "For many of us, college is that place where we find that one special person with whom we were meant to share our lives."

The couple were married in 1980, have two children and reside in Houston where they own and run a successful video production company.

"Locke and I credit our liberal arts education and the faculty of Centenary for our ability to find happiness and success in a sometime difficult and changing world," said Camille Bryan. "Of course I don't have to tell you, you know this already, that the faculty at this school is the best of the best!"
