Three Gents Named All-Conference

ELMHURST, ILL. — The Summit League coaches, selected members of the media and sports information directors honored three members of the Centenary men's basketball team on Thursday.

Junior Chase Adams highlighted the group, as he was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year and honorable mention all-league. Adams finished the season with a league leading 80 steals, while scoring 427 points and giving off 139 assists to capture his first all-conference honor.

"It's a great honor for Chase and our program," said head coach Greg Gary. "He worked extremely hard in the off-season and its good to see that work payoff."

For the second time in his career, senior Nick Stallings was named honorable mention all-conference. The Houston, Texas, native led the Gents in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, while taking the ball away 46 times and dishing off 64 assists.

"I am happy for Nick to be recognized because he to has brought a great work ethic everyday and has been an excellent example to our team on how hard you have to work." Gary said.

Sophomore Gary Redus II, meanwhile, was named to The Summit League All-Newcomer Team after finishing third on the team in scoring with 314 points. The Decatur, Ala., native topped the Gents with 22 blocks and came away with 31 steals and 49 assists.

"G has continued to get better as the season has gone on," Gary stated. "He can be a special player for us and we are excited to have him back for a couple more years."

"For Nick, Chase and G these awards are attributed to their hard work and commitment to a building a successful program here at Centenary," Gary went on to say.

The eighth seeded Gents will be back in action on Saturday in the first round of the conference tournament against top seed North Dakota State at 6 p.m. The game can be heard on www.GoCentenarty.com and 91.3 KSCL in Shreveport/Bossier City at 5:45 p.m.
