Centenary's Fighting Squirrel Productions Presents Music Festival April 3

SHREVEPORT, La. — The Gold Dome at Centenary College will come alive with the sounds of southern rock, blues, country, gypsy and punk when Centenary's Fighting Squirrels Production presents "Music Festival" Friday, April 3 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Located on the Centenary Campus, the Gold Dome will transform into a concert setting for one night when Sequoyah Prep School and Dirtfoot take the stage. Admission is free to Centenary students with ID and $5 for all others. Tickets will be available for purchase the night of the event.

Sequoyah Prep School is a Southern/Pop/Rock band based out of Florence, S.C. The band was formed in late 2003 and has had four releases since forming. They have been touring for the past two years and have earned a huge grass roots following all over the country. The band has accumulated over 1,000,000 plays on myspace.com and is ranked as the number one unsigned band in South Carolina. In January 2008 SPS signed a development contract with Atlantic Records. Shreveport band, Dirtfoot, has a loyal following in the city and around the area. One of the most original bands you will ever hear, Dirtfoot's music features no electric guitars, nearly no effect pedals, samples of prerecorded music. The band consists of banjo, upright bass, acoustic guitar, sax, drums, and various unusual percussion implements (including pots and pans, lids, bells, and beancan shakers). According to the band's website, the six-piece band is just an eclectic "front porch, whiskey swillin, foot stomping, gypsy, punk, country, grumble, and Boogie band." The bands' appearance is hosted by Centenary's programming organization, Fighting Squirrel Productions, a student-run organization. The production company was formed to provide entertainment for Centenary students and the surrounding community.
