18th Annual Student Research Forum Takes Place April 23/24

Research Forum

SHREVEPORT, LA. — Centenary students will present their best works of exploration and invention to fellow students and faculty during the 18th Annual Student Research Forum Thursday, April 23 and Friday April 24.

Students will make their poster presentations in the Student Union Building on Thursday, with oral presentations taking place on Friday at Carlile Auditorium in Mickle Hall, the Whited Room in Bynum Commons, and the Hurley Music Building. Research will be divided into three areas: Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities.

A community tradition for the past 18 years, the Research Forum is modeled upon long-standing academic traditions of conference-based information sharing and feedback. Dr. Matthew Weeks, assistant professor of psychology and director of this year's Research Forum, noted that the annual forum provides Centenary students an opportunity to showcase their talents and experiences. "We take great pride in our students' research here at Centenary and value the opportunity students have to conduct this work," he said. "We look forward to the time that we have set aside for them to present that research to the whole College and surrounding communities."

Judges for the presentations will be Dr. David Bieler, Associate Professor of Geology; Dr. Greg Butcher, Assistant Professor of Neuroscience; Dr. Christopher Ciocchetti, Associate Professor of Philosophy; Dr. Scott Chirhart, Associate Professor of Biology; Dr. Daniel Henderson, Assistant Professor of Exercise Science; Dr. Robert Prickett, Assistant Professor of Education; Dr. Ross Smith, Associate Professor of Music; Dr. Helen Sikes, Professor of Accounting and Finance.
