Meadows Museum Offers Summer Art Camps

SHREVEPORT, La.— The Meadows Museum of Art has begun registration for its 2009 summer art camp featuring two new themed cycles in June. Classes are run by museum arts educator Helen Feild and volunteers.

An educational multimedia program for children ages 8 to 12 will be offered with workshops and lessons in exploring artists, eco-friendly art, drawing, painting, and art history. The sessions will end with a family reception and light refreshments.


Session One takes place June 22-26 with Session Two from June 29 — July 3. The program runs from 9:30 a.m. until noon daily with the option of early drop-off beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The fee is $75 per session and includes the cost of materials and snacks. There will be an optional early morning Yoga session for an additional $20. For more information or to register, call 318.841.7271, or e-mail email.

The Meadows Museum of Art is located on the campus of Centenary College at 2911 Centenary Boulevard in Shreveport. The Museum is open to the general public from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; from noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday; from 1- 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Museum is closed on Monday. The Museum is free of charge to the general public.
