Centenary College Summer Band Concert Series Kicks Off June 23

Summer Band Concert

SHREVEPORT, La. — The Hargrove Memorial Amphitheatre will come alive with the sound of music this summer when the Centenary College's Summer Band concerts kicks off Tuesday, June 23 with a second concert taking place Tuesday, June 30. Both concerts begin at 8 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

Since the performances are outside, concertgoers are encouraged to bring seat cushions, lawn chairs and picnic baskets for the evening.

Additionally, the Summer Band musicians will provide the music on Saturday, July 4 during the Fourth of July Independence Day Festival fireworks event on the Shreveport riverfront and broadcast on KTBS-TV. The band will perform at 8:30 p.m. at Riverfront Plaza.

  • Concert I: Tuesday, June 23, 8 p.m., Hargrove Memorial Amphitheatre (Band Shell)

    Big Band jazz led by Bill Causey Jr.

  • Concert II: Tuesday, June 30, 8 p.m., Memorial Amphitheatre (Band Shell)

    American Band Music

  • Concert III: Saturday, July 4, 8:30 p.m., Independence Day Festival, Riverfront Plaza, Shreveport
    Sponsored by KTBS Channel 3, the cities of Shreveport and Bossier, the El Dorado Resort and Kirby Kelly, Attorney
    The band will perform at 8:30 p.m. with featured performer soprano Jennifer Dowd '95. She will perform three of Jack Stamp's Four Maryland Songs for soprano and band. Also featured will be 16-year old vocal phenomenon Lindsey Fileccia.
