SHREVEPORT, La. — Summer at Centenary can mean only one thing... SUMMER CAMPS!

During the next few months, the College will become the center of activity when people, young and old, from across the state, Texas, Mississippi and beyond make their way here for various camps, meetings and previewing campus life.

The following is a list of activities, camps, and meetings taking place during the summer of 2009:

Dr. James Cassidy of Columbia, Mo., "the dean of pediatric rheumatology" will be among the six pediatric rheumatologists on hand during the two-day camp. Other pediatric rheumatologists sharing information at the event will be Dr. Ruy Carrasco of Austin, Tex.; Dr. Katherine Madson of Dallas, Tex.; Dr. Joe Cole of San Antonio, Tex.; Dr. Linda Ray of Jackson, Miss., and Dr. Jason Dare of Little Rock, Ark.

Sponsored by Children and Arthritis Inc., it is designed to provide children and their families with information about their illness and to address the issues that children and their families face daily. These include intense pain, self-esteem issues that come when children do not consider themselves; family dynamics when attention is focused on a chronically ill child and the very real financial issues that arise with medications and treatment.
