Hurley School of Music Presents Vocalist Jenna Tucker

Centenary College and the Hurley School of Music will host an evening of song when soprano Jenna Tucker presents a vocal recital, Tuesday, Oct. 13 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Anderson Auditorium of the Hurley School of Music.

A native of El Dorado, Ark., Tucker holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University, a Bachelor of Music degree from Ouachita Baptist University, and is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Voice at Louisiana State University.

Some of Tucker's role credits include Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Amy March in Little Women, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, and Baby Doe in The Ballad of Baby Doe. Her recent professional concert credits include solo performances with the South Arkansas Symphony and the Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra in performances of Vaughan Williams' Hodie and Haydn's Little Organ Mass, and a solo recital at the Arkansas Federation of Music Clubs State Convention.

Tucker will be accompanied by pianist Tad Hardin, who enjoys an active performance career as a chamber musician, soloist, and vocal coach. His recital engagements and master classes have taken him to venues throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, South America, and Europe, with recent debuts in London and Milan. Hardin earned his Doctor of Music degree in piano performance at the Florida State University College of Music, where he also received a master's degree in vocal coaching. Dr. Hardin teaches on the faculty of the Lawrence Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wis. He also performs and teaches at summer festivals, which have included the Songfest Young Artist Program, the Festival Internacional Bach in Perú, and the Asolo Song Festival in Italy, where he is the Director of Collaborative Performance.

The program will contain songs by Purcell, Debussy and Schumann, as well as a group of songs by American composers, set to texts by Emily Dickinson.
