Sponsored by the College's cross country team, the run begins at 5 p.m. on the Centenary campus at E. Kings Highway and Woodlawn Ave. and will make a one-mile around the campus.

The Healthy Kid's Fun Run offers a way for elementary and middle school children to participate in a run that is strictly for fun. Entry fee for the event is $8 and those who send in their entry forms received before March 29 are guaranteed a T-shirt. Post Race Snacks will be provided and all students completing the run will receive free admission to the Athletic complex to cheer on the Centenary Ladies softball team as they take on Central Arkansas University.

"The members of the Cross Country teams and the other Centenary student volunteers love interacting with the children," said Shelley Armstrong, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Health and Science Department and Head Cross Country Coach. "They don't realize how much younger students look up to them until they become actively involved in such an event."

Cara Miccoli, senior biology major, couldn't agree more. "I have been involved with the fun run for the past two years because I feel that fitness and wellness in a person's life begins when they are young," said Miccoli. "We want children to be excited about running in hopes that they continue these efforts throughout their life. It is a great feeling to run with a child the entire mile and watch their satisfaction when they cross the finish line."

In 2009, the Fun Run had nearly 125 participants. The Cross Country team hopes to top that number this year.
