Pangaea opens Marjorie Lyons Playhouse season Sept. 23

SHREVEPORT, La. (Centenary News Service) — Marjorie Lyons Playhouse's 2010-11 season opens Thursday, Sept. 23 with "Pangaea," a play written by written by Centenary student Erik Champney.

Besides writing the play, Champney also performs along with fellow cast members Rachel Havird, Chelsea David, Andrew wood and Barry James Acosta. Ryan Williams, drama program director at C.E. Byrd High School, is directing.

According to Williams, the story is about the lives of five people and how one of those people infiltrates himself in all of their lives and begins to manipulate their lives and relationships. "Because of this one person, the rest of them start manipulating each other and him," he said. "It really is an interesting concept."

Shows will take place Sept. 23, 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. with a matinee on Sept. 26 beginning at 2 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for senior citizens, non-Centenary students and military. Tickets are free for Centenary students, faculty and staff.
