College announces new Senior Director of Marketing & Communication

SHREVEPORT, La. (Centenary College News Service) — Centenary College of Louisiana has announced the hiring of Matt Bailey as the new Senior Director of Marketing & Communication. He assumed his current position March 21.

In his new role, Bailey will lead the College's marketing, community relations and governmental relations outreach programs. He fills a position that has been vacant since December 2007 with the departure of the previous Vice President of Marketing.

Bailey has gained experience in policy and outreach, strategic communications and governmental relations while working as the Economic Development Coordinator to Mayor Cedric B. Glover of Shreveport, and as Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu.

"Matt's broad and deep experience with the City of Shreveport and his diverse accomplishments with Senator's Landrieu's office will enable Centenary College to perform exceptionally well in the coming years," said Scott Rawles, Vice President for Advancement. "His skills and ability make him a perfect addition to our team in a most critical role."

A Louisiana-licensed attorney, Bailey earned a law degree at The George Washington University Law School where he presided over a national student political organization. He is a native of Jena, Louisiana, and graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches with a degree in Political Science. Bailey was honorably discharged from the Louisiana Army National Guard following six years of enlisted service and is a member of the American Legion as well as a Fellow with the Truman National Security Project.

Currently, in his spare time, he serves on the boards of the Northwestern State University Alumni Association, New Leaders Council - Louisiana, and Louisiana Progress.

He and his wife Kristen have one son, Jack, and a cocker spaniel named Teddy.
