Centenary President to Participate in International Ethics Seminar

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College President David Rowe will travel to American University in Washington, DC, to make a presentation at an international seminar, "Business Ethics and Social Responsibility in a Global Perspective," being held July 28-29.

Dr. Rowe will serve on the panel "Business Ethics and Social Responsibility in North America." Using an example from a specific world region, he will illustrate his contributions to the field in personal, academic, and institutional activities and research.

"True educators have always recognized the hazards of separating knowledge from ethics in any circumstance," said Dr. Rowe, relating the significance of the conference. "As we face the challenge of living in a world with ever expanding circles of connection, it is imperative to examine ethics and social responsibility in a global context that admits various perspectives and stakeholders."

The seminar is part of a series of events on business ethics organized with the support of the International Association of Methodist-Related Schools, Colleges, and Universities (IAMSCU), starting in Australia in 2005 and including several proceedings in Japan, the United States, Malaysia, and Brazil between 2007 and 2011. Other participants include activists, church leaders, business representatives, members of non-governmental organizations, and scholars from institutions around the world.
