Centenary College Ranked Among the Best

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College of Louisiana has been named among the top colleges and universities in the nation by Forbes.com and the Princeton Review. Forbes.com has recognized Centenary as one of "America's Best Colleges" overall, "Best Private Colleges," and "Best Colleges in the South." The Princeton Review acknowledged the College as being one of the "Best 376 Colleges" and "Best Southeastern Colleges." The schools ranked for both Forbes.com and the Princeton Review represent the top 15 percent of all four year colleges in the country.

"I am so proud of this great achievement for Centenary," said Centenary Vice President for Advancement Scott Rawles. "As we develop leaders for a changing world, we are thrilled to be recognized among so many other fine institutions. This is a testament to Centenary's continuing commitment to excellence."

The Forbes.com rankings focused on aspects such as quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates, and low levels of debt. The Princeton rankings were compiled from the responses of 122,000 students at 376 top colleges who completed an 80-question survey that covered topics ranging from the accessibility of their professors to the quality of campus life. The survey included open-ended questions to encourage students to discuss their experiences in their own words.

"The small size of the student body gives students the opportunity to receive individual attention in class, be involved in many organizations and hold leadership positions outside of class," noted one Centenary student in the Princeton Review study. Students also observed that the College fosters a "community atmosphere" in which "professors really care about you emotionally and academically."

Since 1981, the Princeton Review has been an education services company providing test-prep courses, classes, tutoring, books, and other student resources. Forbes has been providing insights and information on free enterprise and business journalism as of 1917.
