25th Annual Centenary Book Bazaar in Gold Dome Sept. 9-10

SHREVEPORT, LA — The 25th Annual Centenary Book Bazaar will be held Friday, September 9, from 4 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, September 10, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Gold Dome. Admission is free and open to the public.

Book Bazaar 2010

More than 80,000 items will be available for purchase, including paperback and hardback books as well as audio and visual materials such as DVDs, VHS, CDs, and cassette tapes. The Book Bazaar features books sorted into more than 30 categories including fiction, science fiction, religion, history and children's books. A special Reading List section will be devoted to books found on local middle and high school reading lists. Students will find almost all required titles ranging in price from 25¢ to $1.25.

This year's special collection area will display books with a connection to Louisiana, either by subject matter or author. Books are replenished throughout the sale. Most items are priced from 25¢ to $5, with higher-priced rare items reserved for a bid auction. On Saturday, all items become half-priced after 1 p.m.

"The ladies of the Muses work hard all year round, and the result is that for two days, during the Book Bazaar, the Gold Dome becomes the largest bookseller in the state of Louisiana," said David Williams, Associate Manager of Advancement Services and liaison to the Centenary Muses

The Centenary Book Bazaar is organized and sponsored by the Centenary Muses, a group of ladies dedicated to funding student-centered campus projects and programs not included in the regular college budget. Last year alone, the Muses gave away $84,000 to support projects such as remote broadcasting for KSCL, archives manuscript preservation, student domestic travel, and a subscription to a French television station for Le Quartier Français, Centenary's first living-learning community.
