25th Annual Centenary Book Bazaar Draws Huge Crowds

Bazaar Visitor with Books

SHREVEPORT, LA — Thousands of people came to browse the more than 80,000 items that were available for purchase at the 25th Annual Centenary Book Bazaar, which was held Sept. 9 through Sept. 10. Over $50,000 was raised for student projects.

The Centenary Book Bazaar is organized and sponsored by the Centenary Muses, a group of ladies dedicated to funding student-centered campus projects and programs not included in the regular college budget. Last year alone, the Muses gave away $84,000 to support projects such as remote broadcasting for KSCL, archives manuscript preservation, student domestic travel, and a subscription to a French television station for Le Quartier Français, Centenary's first living-learning community.

The Muses are currently accepting student proposals, and the deadline is Friday, Sept. 30 at 4:30 p.m.

The 2012 Book Bazaar will be held Sept. 7 through Sept. 8 in the Gold Dome. The Muses will hold Book Drop Days throughout the year.
