Haynesville at Robinson Film Center October 27

SHREVEPORT, LA — The Centenary College Frost School of Business and the Energy Business Center will be sponsoring a showing of the documentary Haynesville: A Nation's Hunt for an Energy Future at the Robinson Film Center, Thursday, October 27 at 7:50 p.m. This event is part of the Frost School's annual Reel Business Week, during which current business issues and controversies are explored through film.

Prior to the screening of the documentary, the Frost School of Business will host a cocktail reception with the Haynesville director, Gregory Kallenberg. This will be followed by a panel discussion with Kallenberg, area oil and gas leaders, and Centenary economics professors, Dr. David Hoaas and Dr. Harold Christensen.

Haynesville: A Nation's Hunt for Energy Future takes place in the Louisiana backwoods, and follows the momentous discovery of the largest natural gas field in the United States. The film examines the historic find (the "Haynesville Shale") from the personal level as well as from the higher perspective of the current energy picture and pending energy future. The Shreveport premiere of this extended cut of the documentary features additional footage, interviews, and updated information concerning our nation's energy picture. A new epilogue reveals how the documentary's subjects continue to be impacted by the Haynesville Shale, one year later.

This year's Reel Business Week program focuses on the evolution of the oil and gas industry. In addition to the documentary Haynesville, the 1953 adventure film classic, Thunder Bay, will be presented on Tuesday, October 25 at the Robinson Film Center. Thunder Bay stars Jimmy Stewart in the first Hollywood movie to focus on the subject of offshore oil drilling off the coast of Louisiana.

"Both films were selected to drive discussion and debate in our Centenary classrooms as well as provide our students with insight into business, governmental, and societal issues that frame decision-making in this critical industry," said Chris Martin, Dean of the Frost School of Business.

Centenary students may reserve their free tickets to the Thursday night event by contacting email or 318-869-5149 no later than October 21. Limited seating for either film is available to the public at the door. Please visit the Robinson Film Center for show times.
