Annual Christmas Candlelight Service This Friday

SHREVEPORT, LA — The annual Christmas Candlelight Service at Centenary College will be held this Friday, December 2, at 6:00 p.m. in the Brown Memorial Chapel. The Centenary family extends a warm invitation to the community to attend this traditional holiday event.

2010 Candlelight Service

"The Candlelight Service is a wonderful opportunity to share in the holiday spirit with our community," said Rev. Betsy Eaves, Vice President for Student Development and Chaplain. "This is a time when families and friends draw closer together to celebrate Christmas and to remember what the season really means. We look forward to opening our doors and our hearts to welcome those who attend."

Music for the service will be provided by the college's three choral ensembles: Centenary Camerata and Centenary Chorale under the direction of Dr. Julia B. Thorn, and the Centenary College Choir under the direction of Dr. David Hobson. The prelude will be performed by Dr. Hollice Watson of the First Presbyterian Church on organ and Laura Crawford, founder of the Centenary Suzuki School, on violin.

The service will be led by Centenary staff members, students, and President David Rowe. Rev. Eaves will deliver the sermon, and Rev. Valerie Robideaux, Director of Professional Discernment, will serve as liturgist. A reception for all participants and attendees will follow in the Magale Library Foyer.
