Admission Office hosts Scholars Weekend

SHREVEPORT, LA — The Admission Office welcomed 45 prospective students onto campus this past weekend, February 10-11, for Scholars Weekend. The students competed for a variety of scholarships through student interviews held on Saturday.

"I think the students and their families sincerely enjoyed the experience," said Eleanore Silverberg, admission counselor. "Competitive scholarship events like Scholars Weekend have the potential to be very scary and stressful for prospective students. Thanks to the wonderful people we have here on campus, the event was neither stressful nor scary. Nerves and anxiety definitely seemed to give way to great conversations and genuine excitement."

The prospective students and their families were welcomed Friday evening with a reception at the Meadows Museum. Afterward, the group had dinner in the Whited Room and then attended either a Casino Night in Kilpatrick Auditorium or a concert presented by the Centenary Music Theatre Group.

"I love how Centenary makes you feel at home," said one prospective student in the comments section of her program evaluation.

Following their interviews on Saturday, prospective students were able to engage in a first year experience panel and student outcomes panel with current Centenary ladies and gents. The weekend ended with the prospective students cheering for the Centenary women and men's basketball teams facing off against the University of Texas-Tyler.
