College hosts Old City String Quartet and Evangeline Trio

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College will host musical performances on February 17 and February 20 in Anderson Auditorium. Both events are free and open to the public.

Friday, February 17, at 7:30 p.m., the award-winning Old City String Quartet will perform. They will present quartets by Mozart, Schumann, and Debussy. All members are graduates of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and are the Quartet in Residence at Rice University.

Quartet members have appeared as soloists with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic, Kansas City Symphony, and the BBC Concert Orchestra. Their recent CD on the Unipleye label won the Blue Moon award and was reviewed in STRAD International Magazine.

Monday, February 20, at 7:30 p.m., the Evangeline Trio will perform works by Loeillet, Bloch, and Arensky. This local group of professionals features Jennifer Carsillo, violin; Ruth Drummond, cello; and Gay Grosz, piano.
